Sajid Javid has made a name for himself as one of the UK's most influential politicians during his time in office. Sajid Javid is a British politician who has been the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care since 2018. He was elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bromsgrove in 2010. Prior to his role in health and social care, he served as the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government from 2016 to 2018. 


Javid was born on 5 December 1969 in Rochdale, Lancashire, to a British Pakistani family. His parents were bus driver Abdul Ghani Javid and housewife Nusrat Javid. He attended state schools in London before studying Economics at Exeter University. After graduation, he worked for Deutsche Bank from 1992 until 2010. 


In 2009, Javid was selected as one of 101 Conservative candidates to contest seats at the 2010 general election under David Cameron's A-List initiative. He was elected as MP for Bromsgrove with a majority of 18,846 votes. Following his election to parliament, he was appointed as a member of the Treasury Select Committee. In 2012, he became the Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to then Chancellor George Osborne. In 2013, he was promoted to Economic Secretary to the Treasury and City Minister. 


In 2015, Javid was appointed as Culture Secretary by Cameron following the resignation of Maria Miller over an expenses scandal. He served in this role until 2016 when he was made Communities and Local Government Secretary after Prime Minister Theresa May came into office.

Since becoming Health Secretary, Sajid Javid has overseen a number of achievements in the health sector. These include increasing funding for the NHS, introducing a new GP contract, and setting up a new cancer taskforce.


Javid has also been praised for his work on tackling obesity, mental health, and social care. He has also made progress on improving patient safety and reducing waiting times for elective surgery.

In summary, Sajid Javid’s tenure as Secretary of State for Health and Social Care was a period of vast implementation of reforms to improve the quality and access to healthcare in England.
