Steven Adams was born in Rotorua, New Zealand on July 20, 1993. He was raised by a single mother, along with seven brothers and sisters. Adams began playing basketball at a young age and attended Scots College in Wellington, where he was discovered by a talent scout.
He then moved to the United States to attend Notre Dame Preparatory School in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. After graduation, he played one season of college basketball at the University of Pittsburgh before declaring for the 2013 NBA Draft.
After being selected by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the draft, Adams began his professional career with the team in 2013. He quickly established himself as a key player for the Thunder, known for his physicality, rebounding, and defense.
Adams has been a regular starter for the Thunder since the 2014-2015 season and has also represented the New Zealand national team in international competitions. He is considered one of the best centers in the NBA.
