Mike Pence is an American politician who served as the 48th vice president of the United States from 2017 to 2021. He served under President Donald Trump and was the first vice president to have served as the governor of a state (Indiana) before being elected to the national office. Pence was born on June 7, 1959, in Columbus, Indiana. He attended Hanover College and earned a law degree from Indiana University's McKinney School of Law. After graduating, Pence worked as a radio host and attorney before entering politics. In 2000, Pence was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Indiana's 2nd congressional district. He served six terms in the House, during which he became known as a conservative firebrand and a vocal critic of the Obama administration. In 2012, Pence was elected governor of Indiana.
